Managed Networks We are very happy to introduce managed networks to our customers. Managed networks simplify the tasks of the network administrator. They allow for access to all equipment on the network from the administrator's desk and allow for warning's when equipment is malfunctioning or when a network segment is down. Both Cisco and 3Com are taking steps to ensure that their enterprise equipment is managable and are providing software to manage it with. In addition since all managed network hardware uses SNMP we can integrate IBM's Tivoli or Hewlett-Packard's OpenView to manage the network. CiscoView - GUI Monitoring For All Cisco Devices CiscoView 4.2(1) is a GUI-based device management software application that provides dynamic status, statistics, and comprehensive configuration information for Cisco Systems' internetworking products (switches, routers, concentrators, and adapters). CiscoView graphically displays a real-time physical view of Cisco devices. Additionally, this SNMP-based network management tool provides monitoring functions and offers basic troubleshooting capabilities. 3Com ® DynamicAccess technology is a steadily growing array of integrated management tools and services, made possible by added intelligence in desktop PCs, servers, and notebooks. These services let you ensure users can access vital business information easily and quickly, gain valuable insights into application performance, and both pinpoint and solve application and network problems before they affect productivity. |
